Bears are doing deep-dive on Georgia TE Brock Bowers (NFL Draft)

Georgia tight end Brock Bowers is considered one of the best all-around football players in the 2024 NFL Draft. Depending on who you ask, he's generally ranked in the top-five non-quarterbacks.

However, Bowers won't be a top-five pick. He's a tight end, and tight ends never get drafted that high, unless, of course, you're Kyle Pitts. And the Atlanta Falcons might be having some buyer's remorse on that selection right now.

But Bowers is more than a traditional tight end. In my opinion, he's an offensive weapon and the fourth-best pass-catcher in the 2024 draft.

You can read my complete Brock Bowers scouting report here.

The Chicago Bears need to add as much firepower to the offense as possible this offseason, especially at receiver opposite DJ Moore. But the top wide receiver prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft are unlikely to fall to No. 9.

Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze are projected to get picked in the top six selections.

That leaves Bowers as a very real possibility to become a Bear at No. 9. General manager Ryan Poles is doing his homework on him at the 2024 NFL Combine.

A combination of Brock Bowers and Cole Kmet would be... fun. Some Chicago Bears fans are concerned about Poles spending a first-round pick on a position of strength (at least in the starting lineup), but Bowers and Kmet are completely different tight ends. Kmet is a traditional in-line guy with some pass-catching chops. Bowers, on the other hand, is a super-size wide receiver. He'd be the best pass catcher not named DJ Moore on the roster.

I had the Bears taking Bowers in my Pre-Combine Bears Mock Draft, and I still feel good about that projection. While it'd be great if Nabers or Odunze falls to No. 9, Brock Bowers would be a fantastic consolation prize.
