This 49ers player would look great in a Bears uniform (2022 Season)

The Chicago Bears' roster has its fair share of holes. And in Week 1's game against the San Francisco 49ers, Bears fans will get an up-close look at several 49ers players who'd represent serious upgrades in Chicago.

Defensive stars like Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead immediately come to mind. Bosa, especially, would be a force off the edge and provide the Bears with the kind of game-changing pass-rush that Khalil Mack did in spurts. Armstead's gigantic 6'7, 290-pound frame and pass-rushing traits would be a welcome addition, too.

But any discussion about roster upgrades for the Bears has to begin on offense. And while the offensive line certainly warrants attention, the 49ers star who'd look best in a Bears uniform is wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

I gave some consideration to tight end George Kittle, but with Cole Kmet still ascending as a player and Kittle's injury history (plus, he's quickly approaching the wrong side of 30 years old), Samuel simply made the most sense.

Deebo Samuel

Deebo Samuel is the playmaker the Bears need

It's kind of an easy choice, actually. Few players in the NFL offer the kind of dynamic do-it-all traits that Samuel does. He kills defenses as a pure wide receiver. He's lethal as a running back. And he can flip the field on special teams, too.

Bears fans got a glimpse of Samuel's back-breaking ability in 2021:

Chicago doesn't have any player on offense who can do what Samuel did in the clip above. His ability to navigate through traffic, break tackles, and outrun defenders to the end zone is special. He's the ultimate cheat code and the kind of weapon who will inflate quarterback Trey Lance's stats by taking these screen passes for an 85-yard touchdown.

Samuel ended the 2021 season with 77 catches for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns. He added 365 yards and eight touchdowns as a runner.

The Bears, meanwhile, boast a wide receiver corps led by Darnell Mooney -- who's a fantastic playmaker in his own right -- and a cast of unproven players. Sure, Velus Jones Jr. has some 'Deebo' in his game, but until he shows on the field that he can turn the routine play into a spectacular highlight, he's just a rookie.

Adding a receiver like Samuel to Chicago's depth chart would be a boon for Justin Fields. It would allow Mooney to be more of the WR1(b) that his physical stature appears best suited for. And if a player with Mooney's talent level is your WR2, the offense is cooking with gas.

Buckle up, Bears fans. Samuel is going to have his moments in Sunday's season opener. The old sports adage applies to him: Chicago won't stop him; they can only hope to contain him. And it's a player like that, a player who strikes fear into opposing defenses, that the Bears must prioritize next offseason.
