Shedeur Sanders from Trinity Christian High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Sanders opted to join Jackson State.

In 2022 as a freshman Sanders saw action in 12 games for the Tigers as he threw for an outstanding 3384 yards on 453 attempts with a completion percent of 70.2 for an average of 7.5 yards per pass, with an elite 36 TDs, while taking 22 sacks, and QB rating of 112.7. He added 72 runs for a total of 282 yards at an average of 3.9 per run.
