Scouting Report
Jermaine Burton transferred from IMG academy to Calabasas High School after his sophomore year. There he helped lead the Coyotes to a 10-3 record as a junior while making 40 receptions for 863 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 71.9 yards per game and a team-high 21.6 yards per catch. As a result, he was named to the USA Today 2018 All-USA California First Team offense.
Burton was selected to participate in the Under Armour All-America Game following the 2019 season and was subsequently awarded a 4-star.rating from both ESPN and 247Sports Burton opted to join home-town Georgia after being heavily recruited where in 2020 as a freshman Burton saw action in 10 games for the Bulldogs as he made 27 receptions for 404 yards for an average of 15.0 yards per reception, with 3 TDs, and a QB rating when targeted of just 57.4.
As a sophomore in 2021 he was part of a crowded wide receiver group and got fewer targets than expected – as a result in a year when a breakout was predicted the results were underwhelming – he played in 14 games and had 26 catches for 497 yards for an average of 19.1 yards per catch, with 5 TDs, and a much-improved QB rating when targeted of 144.4. At season’s end, he opted to transfer to Alabama sensing a chance to become a star working with the Tide’s Bryce Young.
At Alabama, Burton played 12 games and hauled in a decent 37 catches for 590 yards for an average of 15.9 yards per catch, with 6 TDs, and an elite QB rating when targeted of 139.1.
