Alton McCaskill from Oak Ridge High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, McCaskill joined Houston.
In 2021 as a freshman, McCaskill saw action in 14 games for the Cougars as he ran for 961 yards on 189 attempts for an excellent 5.1 yards per carry, with 16 TDs, with one fumble. As a receiver, he made 21 receptions for 113 yards.
