Madden 24 Ratings: Justin Fields gets disrespected by EA Sports

The Madden 24 ratings for quarterbacks and inside linebackers were released on Friday, and it’s safe to assume that Chicago Bears fans won’t be happy.

Despite earning a spot on the list of the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2023, Justin Fields is still rated like a low-level quarterback.

Tremaine Edmunds, meanwhile, is a lot more respected by the ratings folks at EA Sports.

Let’s dive into the Madden 24 ratings for quarterbacks and linebackers.

Quarterbacks

Tremaine Edmunds (87), Noah Sewell (66), and Terrell Lewis (63)

Justin Fields’ Madden 24 rating is nearly the same as last year

Justin Fields had a 74 rating in Madden 23, good for 25th overall for quarterbacks. Now, after a season where he flashed truly elite potential as a franchise quarterback, when analysts all around the country are talking about Fields taking a Year 3 leap like Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts did, the decision makers at EA Sports gave him a mere two-point bump, landing him 20th among quarterbacks in the video game.

The disrespect is unreal, especially when notoriously mediocre quarterbacks like Ryan Tannehill and Jimmy Garoppolo received higher marks.

Edmunds at least received a fair score of 87, making him the highest-rated Bear in Madden 24. He should have been a few points higher, though, considering that 87 was only good enough to be ranked ninth among middle linebackers. He should be a top-five guy.

Sewell received a score expected of a fifth-round rookie, but considering how hyped up he was as a prospect just one year ago, I think that could have been a little higher as well.

A popular underdog quarterback, Tyson Bagent, receiving a higher rating than Peterman, is interesting. Will he beat out the veteran for that QB3 spot? Training camp begins soon, and then we’ll start getting answers.

Madden 24 doesn’t have much faith in the Chicago Bears

Looking back at all the ratings, we see no Chicago Bears player crossed the 90-rating threshold. Just three (Edmunds, DJ Moore, and Eddie Jackson) had an 85 or higher, and only three (TJ Edwards, Darnell Mooney, and Jaylon Johnson) were in the 80s at all.

If you plan on playing Madden 24 when it releases next month, you might have a hard time if you use the Chicago Bears.

Hopefully, the real Chicago Bears will prove many of these ratings to be foolishly pessimistic in just a few weeks.
