Chicago Bears second-year running back Khalil Herbert is a sleeper in fantasy football circles this season. The backup to Bears starter David Montgomery, Herbert’s brief stint as Chicago’s RB1 in 2021 showcased his ability to lead a backfield.
Herbert finished 2021 with 103 carries for 433 yards and two touchdowns. He looked more explosive than Montgomery at times, and that juice has been on display at Chicago Bears training camp this week.
Check out this ridiculous rep against starting middle linebacker Nicholas Morrow, who’s considered a plus-athlete in his own right.
Morrow had no chance against the quick-footed Herbert, who had the linebacker grasping at air at the top of his route.
Barring injury, Khalil Herbert won’t unseat Montgomery as RB1 in 2022. But if the door opens for him to get reps with the starters at some point this season, he could be off to the races.
