Justin Fields

ESPN: Justin Fields is a ‘fantasy football star’

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields may be the cure that finally ends the QB plague in Chicago, one that’s spanned nearly 40 years. He needs to take another step forward as a passer in 2023, but his impact plays in 2022 were massive.

They were so massive that ESPN dubbed Fields the season’s breakout player of the year and a fantasy football star.

Fields’ production as a runner was remarkable. He nearly broke Lamar Jackson’s single-season rushing record for a quarterback (1,206 yards in 2019). Fields ran for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns despite missing two games, which was a big part of his fantasy football profile. His passing stats weren’t nearly as impressive. Fields threw for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Justin Fields’ upside seems limitless following his 2022 campaign. He’s already the NFL’s most lethal running quarterback, and as the Chicago Bears surround him with more weapons at wide receiver, his passing numbers will improve. And when they do, he could catapult into the No. 1 overall player in fantasy football.
