ESPN ranks Chicago Bears roster among bottom 10 teams in NFL (2023 Season)

Chicago Bears fans are used to their team being ranked at or near the bottom of almost every offseason or preseason ranking. So it should come as no surprise that ESPN analyst Mike Clay ranked the Bears roster among the 10 worst in the league right now.

Clay’s rankings take into account every team’s offseason moves so far. A Chicago Bears team with wide receiver DJ Moore and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds added to the starting lineup, among others, still isn’t enough to move the needled into a more competitive ranking.

The Bears rank 22nd:

On the positive side, Chicago’s offense earned a middle-of-the-pack ranking at No 16. The defense is what weighs them down at No. 29.

As much as Chicago Bears fans may be frustrated by the net overall ranking, it’s fair. The Bears ended the 2022 season with the No. 1 pick for a reason. Sure, they lost a bunch of one-score games, and their luck could easily flip in 2023. But more work is required (and wins on the field are needed) before Chicago will be taken seriously.

The Bears’ roster will continue to evolve this offseason. Chicago has the No. 9 pick in the 2023 NFL draft and plenty of salary cap space.

Ryan Poles’ work isn’t done. More reinforcements are coming to the Chicago Bears.
