The Chicago Bears’ roster has its fair share of holes. And in Week 1’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, Bears fans will get an up-close look at several 49ers players who’d represent serious upgrades in Chicago.
Defensive stars like Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead immediately come to mind. Bosa, especially, would be a force off the edge and provide the Bears with the kind of game-changing pass-rush that Khalil Mack did in spurts. Armstead’s gigantic 6’7, 290-pound frame and pass-rushing traits would be a welcome addition, too.
But any discussion about roster upgrades for the Bears has to begin on offense. And while the offensive line certainly warrants attention, the 49ers star who’d look best in a Bears uniform is wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
I gave some consideration to tight end George Kittle, but with Cole Kmet still ascending as a player and Kittle’s injury history (plus, he’s quickly approaching the wrong side of 30 years old), Samuel simply made the most sense.
