Chicago Bears sign Titans DE DeMarcus Walker

The Chicago Bears’ busy first day of 2023 free agency continues. They’ve agreed to a three-year deal with Tennessee Titans defensive end DeMarcus Walker.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Walker will earn $7 million per season.

Walker, 28, had the best season of his career in 2022 when he finished with seven sacks and 10 tackles for loss. He started just six games for the Titans. Walker was a second-round pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2017 NFL Draft.

It’s a 3-year deal worth $21 million with $16 fully guaranteed for DeMarcus Walker, per source. The Bears finish the day by bringing an edge rusher into the mix. An absolute necessity on defense.

Walker played 426 snaps last season, with 124 coming at defensive tackle. Perhaps the Chicago Bears view him as a candidate to slide inside on passing downs.

Demarcus Walker is a surprise signing. He wasn’t a name that appeared on many pre-free agency wish lists for the Chicago Bears, but for a team desperate to upgrade its pass rush, Walker will certainly help.
