The Chicago Bears might have a new backup quarterback after signing PJ Walker, the former Carolina Panther who spent some time throwing passes to Bears wide receiver DJ Moore.
Walker, 28, is a good fit behind Justin Fields in the Bears’ offense. He started five games for the Panthers in 2022, throwing for 731 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He’s a timely playmaker with a strong arm and above-average running ability.
Walker and Moore shared at least one incredible highlight with the Panthers on this game-winning throw against the Atlanta Falcons:
PJ Walker joins veteran Trevor Siemian as the quarterbacks behind Fields on the depth chart. They’ll have a training camp battle for the QB2 role, assuming Chicago holds onto Siemian this season.
