Bears sign Darnell Wright, two other draft picks to rookie deals

The Chicago Bears were busy inking several of their most important rookies to contracts Monday, including first-round pick Darnell Wright.

Third-round defensive lineman Zacch Pickens and fourth-round wide receiver Tyler Scott also signed and are under contract for the next four seasons.

The Chicago Bears now have seven of their 10 draft picks signed. Gervon Dexter Sr. (second round), Tyrique Stevenson (second round) and Roschon Johnson (fourth round) are the only members of the team’s 2023 draft class yet to put pen to paper.

Darnell Wright is the most important member of the Chicago Bears rookie class. Sure, he’s the first-rounder, but he’ll be charged with as big of a responsibility as any player on Chicago’s roster: protect QB Justin Fields.

Signing him this early in the offseason program is a big win for GM Ryan Poles and the Bears, who can now focus on Wright becoming the opening-day starter at right tackle.
